Wednesday, 17th April 2024 - LONDON

Image
The U3A organised a coach trip to London today and at £16, it was hard to resist.  And the icing on the cake was that Mave's daughter was able to meet me there and we had a very enjoyable 6 hours catching up.   The coach dropped us off outside the Natural History Museum where L was waiting for me.  With the best of the day's weather forecast for the morning,  we decided to head for Hyde Park. I got my camera out when we reached the Albert Memorial which was looking splendid in the sunshine,  probably having been "tidied up" for the coronation last year. After seeing much of Hyde park and having some lunch by the Serpentine, we went to the Naatural History Museum. We visited the "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" exhibition and I don't think either of us were particularly impressed - I guess we're just not "judge material". The building itself was very impressive but the large number of visiors made photography diffficult. It was a very enj...

Thursday, 18th April 2024 - BLACK COUNTRY MUSEUM

Image
The U3A Photography Group had a coach trip to the Black Country Museum near Dudley and despite having been a few times before, I was keen to go.  One particular shot I wanted from the visit was a panorama shot that I'd taken previously and wanted to try to improve on. Here are Visble and Infra-Red versions of the shot. I wonder which you prefer? Black and White seemed the best medium for most of my shots of the museum - it tends to give an 'older' feel to the shots :- One shot that needed colour was of the blacksmith who demonstrated how chains used to be made And finally, one of some friends who were on the trip who seemed to want their photo taken  :) Thanks for looking, comments always welcome. Wednesday, 10th April 2024 - THETFORD FOREST

Image
My friend  P and I spent a few very enjoyable hours checking out some of the Thetford Forest. It's a possible venue for the Old Geezers and we wanted to check it out. It's a very nice part of the world - very quiet and peaceful away from the catering and playground areas. Many of my photos didn't do the area justice but here are a few that made the cut. Once again, I used my IR camera for a lot of the shots. Hope you like them. Den

In need of a change of scenery, I went to Willington for a walk by the river. These are some shots taken with my Infra-Red camera. Den

ALPHABET OF IMAGES - J

Image
J is for  .............  JACKDAW  I've been stuck on J for a while ... Yeah,  you noticed didn't you  😃😃 I hesitate to post this poor quality image but I want to move this on. My excuse is that this was the first time I've seen a Jackdaw in the garden and I wanted to capture it (photographically).  No time to check camera settings and, ofcoure, they were totally  inappropriate (1/10 sec, f/16). But it's  a Jackdaw, so now I can move on to K  🙂 Thanks for looking, Den.
