Wednesday, 6th December 2023 - Paxton Pits

Today was another cold day but at least the sun was shining so I took my camera down to our local nature reserve,  Paxton Pits.  As I arrived,  J&J were just leaving but stopped for a chat.  J said they'd seen a Kingfisher but I didn't let that get my hopes up too much - she spots birds much better than I do.

But I got lucky too and got these shots - my first Kingfisher shots of 2023. For the technically minded. these shots ere taken with high ISO - up to 10,000!  Noise reduction software is very good these days.

Today, the U3A Photography Group visited the Water Mill at Hatfield. Unfortunately any catering facilities they may have were not open today so we met in the nearby Tesco cafe for the almost essential coffee before going to the mill, ready for some photography.    The inside of the mill was lit by sodium lamps. They might be good for the eye but not for colour photography.  To avoid those problems, I processed these images in black & white and then added a sepia tint which I thought suited the subject. Sunday , 4th February 2024 - Farewell Band Gang, Hello Band Crew

Well, we went to the Anchor for lunch today as the Band Gang, had a very enjoyable meal, and then departed renamed as the Band Crew. Apparently the original name could somehow get confused with another "activity".  It's beyond me but if someone could explain it to me I'd be most grateful  😜 _____________________
